Step by step

The three things 90% of customers need.

Power on, connect a device, find the password. The gateway ships fully activated with the SIM installed — you don't have to call anyone.

Step 01

Turn on your device

  1. Plug in the wall charger using the included cable.
  2. Locate the power button just above the Inseego logo.
  3. Press and hold for 3 seconds. The button blinks.
  4. The screen shows the MiFi X Pro 5G logo, then T-Mobile, then a loading icon, then the home screen.
  5. You’re ready to connect devices.

Step 02

Connect your devices

  1. Tap the Wi-Fi Name / Password icon on the MiFi home screen.
  2. Note the network name (e.g. M3000-3EE) and password.
  3. On your phone or laptop, open Wi-Fi settings and pick that network name.
  4. Enter the password.
  5. That’s it — you’re online.

Step 03

Find Wi-Fi name & password

  1. Tap the same Wi-Fi icon on the home screen.
  2. The primary network name and password are displayed.
  3. Swipe left to see the guest-network credentials, if you need them.
  4. Each device ships with a unique password — we recommend keeping the default unless you have a reason to change it.

More functions

Less common, still good to know.

Turning the device off

Press and hold the Power button for 3 seconds until the Power Off screen appears, then tap Shutdown. The screen times out automatically when there’s no activity, and the device shuts off after two hours of zero connections to save battery.

Connecting devices over Ethernet

The Ethernet port is disabled by default to optimize battery life. Enable it from the touchscreen (Menu → Settings) or from the Admin web UI (Settings → Preferences). Then plug one end of an Ethernet cable into the MiFi’s Ethernet port and the other end into your laptop, printer, or game console.

Charging with the Quick Charge charger

Connect the USB-C end of the cable to the MiFi’s charging port, plug the other end into the included Quick Charge charger, and plug the charger into a wall outlet. The MiFi can stay plugged in continuously — that’s the recommended setup for home use.

Changing your password or Wi-Fi network name

Download the Inseego mobile app, or browse to my.mifi from any device on the network. Sign in using your Admin password (the same default password printed on the device). For the full walk-through, see the T-Mobile guide. Heads-up: each device ships with a unique password, so keep the default unless you really need to change it.

What's on the home screen

The touchscreen shows the Wi-Fi name and password, current connected devices, data usage, and battery state. Swipe left and right to flip through screens; tap the arrows, buttons, and icons to drill into menu options like Settings, Network, and Diagnostics.
